What’s the difference between a chatbot and an AI agent?

A chatbot answers you and gives you the steps, and you’re the one who does them. An agent takes the task and does it itself: it opens the site, fills it in and saves, while you watch.

An example

Say you want to apply for a job: a chatbot tells you what to write in each field. An agent opens the page, fills in your details, attaches your CV from your PC, and stops to ask you before it sends.

When do you need each one?

A chatbot for questions, writing and explanations. An agent for work that takes many steps or keeps coming back.
