How do I stop ads on my PC?
Most of the ads you see on a PC come through the browser, so you stop them with a browser that blocks them or with a blocking extension. If ads pop up while the browser is closed, the cause is usually a program you installed.
Ads in the browser
A blocking extension from the official store blocks most of them, or a browser that blocks them by itself, like m7bok.
Windows’ own suggestions
Windows shows suggestions and tips in the Start menu and on the lock screen. You turn them off from Settings, then Personalization, under Start and under Lock screen.
Ads that appear while the browser is closed
Usually a free program you installed brought ads along with it. Open Settings, then Apps, sort them by install date, and remove what you don’t recognise. Then scan your PC with Windows Security.
